Join Modes
AdTarget supports two ways for users to join your Telegram channel: Direct Join and Request to Join. You can switch between them at any time with a single click — no code changes, no downtime.
Direct Join
With Direct Join, each visitor gets a unique, single-use invite link. When they click it, they join the channel instantly.
How it works:
- Visitor lands on your page with the AdTarget tracker
- AdTarget generates a unique invite link for that visitor
- Visitor clicks the link and joins immediately
- AdTarget attributes the join to the original ad click
Benefits:
- Zero friction — one click and they’re in
- Best for high-traffic funnels where speed matters
- Simplest user experience — nothing stands between the click and the join
Request to Join
With Request to Join, your Telegram channel is set to require approval. Each visitor still gets a unique trackable link, but instead of joining directly, they submit a join request. The AdTarget bot auto-approves them instantly, so the experience feels nearly identical to Direct Join.
How it works:
- Visitor lands on your page with the AdTarget tracker
- AdTarget generates a unique invite link for that visitor
- Visitor clicks the link and sends a join request
- The bot auto-approves the request within seconds
- AdTarget attributes the join to the original ad click
Benefits:
- Reusable links — invite links don’t expire after one use, reducing link generation overhead
- Extra security — if a link gets leaked or shared, the bot controls who actually gets in
- VIP feel — the approval step adds a sense of exclusivity
- Better for private communities where you want a layer of control

How to Switch
Open channel settings
Go to your site’s Settings and select the Channels tab.
Configure the channel
Click the Setup (or Edit) button on the channel you want to configure.
Toggle the join mode
In the configuration dialog, find the Join mode setting and select either Direct Join or Request to Join.
Save
Click Save. The change takes effect immediately.
That’s it — one click, instant switch, no data loss.
Both join modes fully track attribution and send conversion events to Meta CAPI automatically. Switching modes does not affect your existing data or tracking accuracy.
