Snapchat Pixel Setup
This guide shows you how to connect your Snapchat Pixel to AdTarget for conversion tracking.
Prerequisites
- A Snapchat Ads Manager account
- A Snapchat Pixel (we’ll show you how to create one if needed)
- Access to Snapchat Events Manager
Step 1: Find Your Pixel ID
If You Have an Existing Pixel
- Go to Snapchat Ads Manager
- Navigate to Events Manager
- Select your existing pixel
- Your Pixel ID is shown in the pixel details (a UUID format string)
If You Need to Create a Pixel
- Go to Snapchat Ads Manager
- Navigate to Events Manager
- Click New Event Source
- Select Snap Pixel
- Enter a name for your pixel (e.g., “AdTarget Telegram Tracking”)
- Click Confirm
- Copy the Pixel ID (UUID format)
Step 2: Set Up Conversions API Access
To send server-side events, you need a Conversions API access token.
Generate the Token
- Go to Snapchat Ads Manager
- Navigate to Events Manager
- Select your pixel
- Click Conversions API Setup
- Follow the guided setup to generate an access token
- Copy the token immediately (you won’t see it again)
The access token is passed as a URL query parameter when sending events to the Snapchat Conversions API endpoint. It is tied to your specific pixel and ad account.
Step 3: Add Pixel to AdTarget
Now that you have your Pixel ID and access token, connect them in AdTarget:
- Go to your AdTarget dashboard
- Select your site, then open its Settings
- Click the Pixels tab in the sidebar
- Click + Add pixel to open the setup dialog
- Select Snapchat as the platform
- Enter a Name for the pixel (e.g., “Snapchat Main Pixel”) — fill this in first, because the pixel cannot auto-save without a name
- Paste your Pixel ID (UUID format)
- Paste your Access Token
Validation triggers automatically once valid credentials are entered. You will see a “Verifying credentials…” spinner while AdTarget checks your credentials against Snapchat’s API.
After verification succeeds and “Credentials verified!” appears, the pixel auto-saves only when all three fields are valid: Name, Pixel ID, and Access Token.
On success:
- A “Credentials verified!” confirmation appears
- The pixel auto-saves and is ready for use
- The dialog closes and your new pixel appears in the list
Verify Your Setup
After your pixel is connected:
- Check the Pixels tab — your pixel should appear in the list
- Go to Snapchat Events Manager → Events Manager
- Select your pixel and check for incoming events
Success indicators:
- Your pixel is listed in the Pixels tab
- Events visible in Snapchat Events Manager
- Event status shows as received
Managing Pixels
Selecting a Default Pixel
If you have multiple Snapchat pixels, click on any pixel in the list to set it as the default for your site. The default pixel is used for all Snapchat conversion events.
Deleting a Pixel
Click the trash icon next to a pixel to remove it.
Troubleshooting
“Invalid Pixel ID”
- Snapchat Pixel IDs are in UUID format (e.g.,
a1b2c3d4-e5f6-7890-abcd-ef1234567890) - Make sure you copied the full ID from Snapchat Events Manager
“Access token appears to be incomplete”
- Snapchat access tokens are long strings
- Make sure you copied the entire token
“Invalid or expired access token”
- Tokens can only be viewed once when created
- If lost, generate a new token from the Conversions API Setup page
- Ensure the token belongs to the correct pixel
“Pixel ID not found or not accessible with this token”
- Verify the token was generated for this specific pixel
- Check that your ad account has access to the pixel
Events not appearing in Events Manager?
- Wait 5-10 minutes for events to process
- Check the Events tab under your pixel
- Verify the pixel is active and not paused
Next Steps
Now that your pixel is connected, configure which Conversions API events to send.
